The Writing Program and Composition and Cultural Rhetoric Program would like to congratulate Tamika Carey, a 2008 Outstanding TA Award winner.

Tamika received a nomination from faculty members Collin Brooke, Lois Agnew, and Eileen Schell. Excerpts from that nomination illuminate her contributions and qualifications:

"Students clearly recognize Tamika’s investment in her courses and in fostering productive working relationships with them. Her evaluations are consistently strong."

"In addition to her work in the classroom, Tamika has been an invaluable departmental citizen. She is currently serving for the 2nd year as the graduate student representative on the Graduate Studies Committee, where she has participated in the graduate admissions and recruitment process and served an important role in the composition of materials for our recent Middle States accreditation review. She occupies an important leadership role amongst our graduate students, both in communicating student concerns to the faculty and in helping to organize and implement graduate committee events."

"Tamika’s outstanding teaching and service are supported by her commitment to academic excellence. Her insightful observations, careful scholarship, and organizational skills have served as a model for her peers during her course work. Tamika has wisely drawn upon this work in preparing to move to the next level of study."

Jonna Gilfus, Anne Fitzsimmons, and Jason Luther also contributed to the nomination process.
