Scott Lyons Elected To CCCC Executive Committee

Professor Scott Lyons, Assistant Professor of Writing and Rhetoric at Syracuse University, has been been elected to the Executive Committee of the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC), a constituent group of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).

Professor Lyons ran on a platform emphasizing more (and more critical) focus on the writing and educational situations of marginalized groups, greater inclusion of teachers and scholars from minority educational institutions (especially tribal colleges) in CCCC, and more aggressive public activism on the public meanings, policies, and politics of literacy by the organization.

Professor Lyons joins Professor Eileen E. Schell, Associate Professor in Writing and Rhetoric, in serving on the committee. Professor Schell was elected in 2001. Members of the Executive Committee are elected to serve three-year terms.
