    Dr. Madhura Bandyopadhyay will join Syracuse University's Department of Writing Studies, Rhetoric and Composition as Assistant Teaching Professor in Fall 2018.

    Prior to joining Syracuse University, Dr. Bandyopadhyay taught Professional Writing, Literature and Composition at the University of South Florida, Saint Petersburg. Prior to teaching in Florida, Dr. Bandyopadhyay worked for Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for the MIT-SUTD Collaboration in Singapore with the Singapore University of Technology and Design in Writing, Rhetoric and Professional Communications. Before that, Dr. Bandyopadhyay worked at University of California, Davis in the Writing Program.

    Dr. Bandyopadhyay's pedagogy and scholarship focuses on First Year Composition, Advanced Composition, Business, Technical, Professional and Health Science Writing. Her other areas of focus are British Literature, Nineteenth-Century Studies, Popular Culture, Women and Gender, Postcolonial and World Literatures. She has also done pedagogical work on curriculum design, Writing Across the Curriculum and Writing in the Disciplines, Writing Center work, Multimodal Composition, online and hybrid pedagogy, and portfolio assessment. She has presented at national and international conferences.

    Dr. Bandyopadhyay was awarded Graduate Teaching Assistantship throughout her doctoral career. She served on the Curriculum Committee and Student Learning Outcomes Committee at Davis and was awarded the Kirkland Dissertation Writing fellowship and the Kirkland Travel Grant at the University of Florida.

    Dr. Bandyopadhyay received her Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 2008. She received her M.A. in English from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India and B.A with Honors in English from Presidency College, Kolkata, India.
